Chicago is an amazing city; the history, architecture, and culture are rich blessings for those of us able to call it home. But its also a place of incredible brokenness, a place in need of healing and restoration available only through Jesus Christ. How can you get involved in being the hands and feet of Jesus to our city? The Moody Church has a number of outreach and service opportunities that interface with Chicago.

By The Hand Club For Kids™ is a Christ-centered after-school program serving children in four of Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods: Cabrini-Green, Altgeld Gardens, Englewood, and Austin. Volunteers are needed Tuesdays through Thursdays in the afternoon and early evening to help children with their homework, teach enrichment classes, serve in the kitchen and more.

By The Hand is unlike conventional programs. While we emphasize measurable educational goals, our focus is on loving the whole child—which leads us to focus on all aspects of child development. We literally and figuratively take kids By The Hand and walk alongside them from the time they enroll in our program until they’re adults, walking independently with the Lord. We tutor them to academic excellence. We mentor them to their full potential. And we care for them as our own.

Naomi’s House programs are comprehensives service offering hope and healing to victims of sex trafficking. Our programs are a safe place fostering healing and faith in Christ that leads to life-transformation. We are:

  • Faith-based, rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Trauma-informed, integrated with expert therapists and staff
  • Committed to her full healing, believing she is the best advocate for her own care

We provide tailored support to victims and survivors wherever they are. Whether that is fully ingrained in commercial sexual exploitation, preparing to leave it, or beginning a new life of their own, we want women to know that they are not alone.

The Moody Church has a long history of loving and advocating for children at risk. D.L. Moody’s work with street children in some of Chicago’s worst neighborhoods originally launched the church as children and their parents came to know the Lord.

Hope For Kids, part of The Moody Church missions program, continues the same commitment to children at risk—whether orphaned, in foster care, living in under-resourced neighborhoods, or in danger of being trafficked—The Moody Church remains committed to bringing hope to children in dark situations.

Hope For Kids encourages and equips the congregation to minister to vulnerable children through partner organizations, both in Chicago and around the world, and supports members involved in foster care and adoption.

The Local Outreach Ministry of The Moody Church seeks to equip our congregation to reach out to our surrounding communities in different means and at various levels. We work to reach the lost ones of the world alongside our partner organizations and through our own ministries, including the Psalm 9:9 Homeless Ministry, Good News Jail Ministry, our Moody Business Network Luncheons, Skyword Ministry at O’Hare International Airport, and our Chicago Marathon Cheering Section.
