What a wild week of weather we’ve had! From what felt like an early summer day on Tuesday in the mid-70s, we woke up Wednesday to temperatures in the mid-20s! With changes like that, things can feel super unpredictable. It’s a picture of the world we live in. There’s so much rapid change. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out which end is up.

How good it is to know that we serve the risen Lord Jesus Christ who is “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). You’ll recognize those words which are placed high on our sanctuary wall. That confession serves as a reminder to us that no matter where the winds of culture might blow, we have a firm foundation upon Whom we can build our lives. Jesus Christ is our Rock. In a world of trendiness, where things go from hot to cold over the course of a weekend, we have “the Way, and the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6) eternally pointing us in the right direction. In an unstable world rife with change, Jesus is our enduring and immovable anchor.

After all, having a sure foundation is the only way to build a life. A durable life requires
a durable foundation. If Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then you and I can build our lives on Him, knowing we won’t wake up one day to find everything has shaken and fallen to pieces. He is the Rock on which we stand. He alone is steadfast and certain.

So when the winds shift, the temperatures plummet, and we wake up to a very different day, let it remind us of our firm foundation. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And that means we’re loved—each and every day—more than we know!
