We had a lot of windshield time this week as our family drove to Cedarville and back. It was 650 miles round trip. We listened to audiobooks, read quietly, and spent a lot of time singing songs with the music turned up loud. And I’ve got to say, I’m not a good vocalist, but belting out songs with my kids at the top of our lungs is one of my favorite things in the whole world. We sang until we laughed. We laughed until we cried. And I’m pretty sure we frightened those poor people in the Subaru one lane over.

As a kid growing up, I remember singing with my family on road trips. It was a good way to pass the time. And I think it knit us together in a special way. I don’t know how many generations have been singing along the highways, but I suppose it goes further back than I can imagine.

Did you know that God sings too? It might be hard to imagine, but God loves to sing over his children. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

So, on the road of life, crank up the volume, belt it out loud, and join in the song. Your Father is singing with you.

Because you are loved, more than you know!
