Today, we celebrate and honor the calling of motherhood and the women in our lives who have trained our eyes on Jesus. We honor our moms, who gave us life and raised us. In the great big family of God, there are many who serve as spiritual parents in our discipleship, and we honor them as well.

In our culture, the calling of motherhood is often dismissed. But it is a high and holy calling. Investing time, energy, passion, and creativity into family life rarely brings immediate economic returns, but the spiritual impact over generations is profound. I’m so grateful for my Grandma LaVerne and Grandmother Elizabeth, whose prayers and kindness showed me Jesus. I’m grateful for Susan, my loving mother, who dedicated herself to raising and educating her six high-energy children. I admire Krista, who is such a good mom to our four kids, and shepherds their hearts to love God each day. The quiet, faithful endurance of motherhood echoes for generations. Moms are the unsung heroes of history. On this day, we join in declaring the words of Proverbs 31:28 and 30, “Her children rise up and call her blessed… a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

To help celebrate, you’ll find a couple photo stations in the lobby where you can snap some pictures to commemorate this special day. Also, you’ll notice there are vases with flowers in the lobby; we invite everyone to take a flower or give one today.

We also know that for many, this day is heavy. If that’s you, please know that you are not forgotten. Our God sees. He knows. And He cares. We pray God’s grace will be the comfort, portion, and strength we need as we rest in His care today.

On this Mother’s Day, remember: You are loved, more than you know!
