Prayer at The Moody Church
Nothing of enduring spiritual value happens without prayer. The whole of the Christian life is by grace through faith, which are good gifts from our Father in heaven. It’s essential that we ask, seek, and knock, as Jesus taught us: “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened,” for our Father in heaven loves to “give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:8, 11). We desire that prayerfulness be deeply engrained into the life of our church.
When you read the book of Acts, you find the early church gathering together for fellowship and ministry. In the face of persecution, sickness, and personal need, they knew that meeting together for mutual support, prayer, and worship would help them stay strong in the Lord.
Today, it’s more important than ever that we continue to pray together. Whether its through our Sunday worship service, our weekly prayer meeting, our monthly Leadership Council and Deaconesses meetings, our quarterly Day of Prayer and Fasting, or our special prayer events, we encourage you to join us in prayer.
Sunday Morning Service
Our Sunday worship service is designed around prayer. We believe that everything we do in and through our worship service is an ongoing conversation with God. That’s why our service is intentionally structured as a time of prayerful connection with God as we hear from His Word and respond in prayerful worship of Him.
Prayer Meeting: Wednesdays at 6:45PM
Each Wednesday evening at 6:45pm, you can join us for our Prayer Meeting in-person in Room 103 or watch the live stream on YouTube. Members of our staff and leadership lead us in a time of singing and prayer. Everyone is welcome!
FALL 2023 SCHEDULE: We are returning to weekly, in-person prayer on Wednesday, September 6. See you there!
Prayer in Communities
Our Sunday Communities, small groups, TMC Kids ministries offer regular prayer throughout the week. Check with your group leader to learn more about these encouraging opportunities to connect with others in prayer.
Day of Prayer and Fasting
Each quarter, we gather as a congregation to pray and fast throughout the day as we dedicate ourselves, our church, and our missionaries to the Lord’s service. To learn more about our next Day of Prayer, click here.
Missionary Prayer Fellowship
Join us in praying for our missionaries and partners around the world! Missionary Prayer Fellowship meets on the third Thursday of each month in Room 107, 12pm – 2pm (please check the calendar for the most recent updates).
Prayer guides and prompts are provided, and visiting missionaries often attend to share updates. This is a great way to intercede for our workers around the world and take part in what the Lord is doing.
Throughout the year, we participate in city-wide prayer gatherings, like Chicagoland United in Prayer.
For the latest up-to-date information about these events, please check our calendar page.
