It’s time to Change Your World through Mission!
God has always used ordinary people to advance His mission in extraordinary ways. That’s one of the key insights we’re gleaning from the book of Acts. God’s mission to redeem this lost world and reconcile all peoples to Himself in Jesus Christ is a mission we are invited to join. You don’t need to have seminary training or become a missionary or pastor. The mission is for everyone who follows Jesus. Because saved people are sent people. When Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), that command is for all of His followers.
When He says, “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8), He’s giving us an assignment. And when He says, “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you” (John 20:21), He’s giving us our marching orders.
We are sent into the world to show and share the love of Jesus with people far from Jesus but near to us. Our mission field is where we live, work, learn, and play. It’s an everyday mission. But how can we learn to live missionally in a way that is actually helpful?
This week in all our Communities, we begin a 4-week study of how each one of us can say “yes” to Jesus’ mission in practical, everyday ways. These interactive lessons will provide helpful tools and experiences designed to enable each one of us to prayerfully partner with Jesus in His redemptive work in our world. Jesus is already at work, drawing people we know to Himself. And He’s inviting us to join Him on mission.
May I challenge you to invest yourself in this 4-week study? If you’re not in a Community, this is a great time to join. We have lots of friendly folks who would love for you to join them. Swing by the Connection Center and we’ll help you narrow down the options. And if you are already in a Community, may I encourage you to commit to all four weeks wholeheartedly? The more invested we are, the more we’ll grow together.
Let’s be praying that God would stir us up as a church family to live on mission for Him. The world has yet to see what God can do through a church that is totally yielded to Him. By God’s grace, let us aim to be that church. For we are loved, more than we know. Now, let’s go and be the church!
