Registration is closed for our Spring 2021 courses.

The Equipping Classes provide the necessary tools you need to grow in your walk with the Lord, and help you live out the gospel wherever God has placed you. Our ministry runs on the semester system, with classes beginning in January, May, and September of each year.

We seek to offer our Level One Core Courses on a rotating schedule that enables even those with limited availability to take all classes. Our Level Two Elective Courses generally require completion of some of our Level One classes. All of our courses are designed to help each of us live out core biblical values, allowing the gospel to be the lens through which we view all of life.

Who We Are

In the Scriptures, God calls every follower of Christ to maturity, ministry, and mission.

  • Maturity—grow in Christ
  • Ministry—serve the body of Christ
  • Mission—take Christ to the world

Our hands-on classes give you tools to help you grow in each of these essential areas. Our courses strengthen your prayer life and your understanding of the Bible and our faith, enable you to share your faith with others, and help you answer difficult questions about Christianity. You can find descriptions of our courses below.

We want to help believers develop a gospel–centered worldview, deepening their walk with the Lord and living out the gospel wherever God has placed them. Our mission is to follow the instructions God gave to us in Ephesians:

And [Jesus] gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Deeper into God’s Word 1 builds upon the principles learned in Grasping God’s Word, with specific attention to the in-depth study of a New Testament letter. You’ll begin to learn to make informed decisions about biblical words, to read an entire letter as a whole and in light of the original situation in which it was written, and to understand how the epistles speak to the modern Christian. Doing so helps us apply the truths of these letters to our own walk with the Lord.

Deeper into God’s Word 2 again builds on the foundation laid in Grasping God’s Word, now focusing our concentration on the study of the historical books in Scripture. You’ll learn to think about the events in view of the land in which they occurred, to read an entire narrative as a whole, and to understand how these histories speak to the modern Christian. In this process, we will begin to comprehend how to apply the truths we see to our own lives.

Deeper into God’s Word 3 continues to build upon the foundation laid in Grasping God’s Word, now turning our focus on how to understand and apply the Gospels. You’ll learn to view each event in light of the entire Gospel and the author’s driving themes. This will help us to understand how each Gospel compels us to believe in Jesus Christ and live in light of His teachings.

Deeper into God’s Word 4 continues to build upon the foundation laid in Grasping God’s Word, now turning our focus on how to study, understand, and apply the prophetic books. You’ll learn to view how the prophets confronted the people in their day and spoke of the future in order to compel them to repent, believe, and remain faithful to the Lord. You will see how the prophets point forward to Christ (in His first and second comings) and how they challenge us to live today. Course runs 12 weeks.

This course investigates the identity, ethic and mission of a disciple. Time will be spent discerning the biblical rationale of why discipleship? What is its significance, purpose, and role in the mission of God? The process of spiritual transformation will be explored individually and corporately. The aim is for each person to develop and pursue gospel-centered change in order to foster growth and maturity in others. Each class member will develop a discipleship plan to implement into their specific ministry context. Course runs 9 weeks.

From God to Us is a basic introduction to the canon of Scripture, the history and science of textual criticism, and the basic issues inherent in Bible translation. You’ll understand the process by which the canon of Scripture was confirmed by God’s people, the means by which the Scripture text has been preserved and passed down through the ages, and gain an informed understanding of English translations of the Bible. It will increase your confidence in God’s Word and better enable you to defend your faith.

Jesus described the new life He spoke of as a transformation that began on the inside and worked itself out: poor in spirit, pure in heart, born again, speaking out of the abundance of what is in our hearts. That process is not simply the acquiring of knowledge, but a relationship with the Eternal God that changes who we are from the inside out. This is biblical spiritual formation. It is not just knowing, but being.

This course helps you understand the biblical idea of spiritual formation by exploring the “Seven Questions of Spiritual Theology” and working in small groups to foster and facilitate spiritual formation in one another.

We examine the period between the Old and New Testaments, often called the “400 Years of Silence,” and discover that this time was anything but silent. You’ll learn about the Maccabees and Chanukah, the rise of the Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, and Essenes, and the synagogue, all of which serve as a backdrop for better understanding Jesus’ life and ministry. We see how God was working in the time between Malachi and Matthew to prepare the way for our Messiah.

The one characteristic that every person shares is our sin. The problem is so big that we are helpless to fix it; the only one who can do so is God himself.
