What’s more fun than a church full of happy, screaming, and singing kids? Apart from all the screaming, not much! This past week we shared the glory of God with hundreds of children during Summer Blast, where kids got to see how amazing God’s creation is: from the smallest to the largest parts. A huge thank you to Michele Forrider and her wonderful team of volunteers—including so many young people! It is a testament to God’s grace that so many recent graduates of Summer Blast were volunteers this year. Way to grow in love through service!
And of course, thank you to the parents who woke, fed, cajoled, and ultimately transported their kids to church—perhaps a bit earlier than seemed feasible. Let’s pray the Holy Spirit draws these children to the Lord through the biblical truths they were taught this week.
Pastor Philip is away with his family, so it is my pleasure to write the Pastor to People this month. I say, “my pleasure” because I really enjoy it. I also want to make clear I’m not being compensated for the additional work. 🙂
On a personal note, 29 years ago today in The Moody Church sanctuary, Carme and I were married. I still can’t believe she said yes. I am thankful for a wife who delights in the Lord and is a delight to me and our children. She is a gift from the Lord. To single adults looking to be married, there is nothing more important than finding someone who wholeheartedly loves the Lord. Nothing. And to married couples, I cannot encourage you enough to fully yield yourself to the Lord in your marriage. Marriage can be hard—even very hard—for sinners like us. But God’s grace will always be sufficient to empower you to love your spouse with God’s unconditional and sacrificial love.
God bless you!
