When Winston Churchill stood before the House of Commons on June 18, 1940, he delivered an unforgettable address as the unavoidable realities of World War II came home. He proclaimed, “The Battle of Britain is about to begin. . .The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. . . .Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’”

Today we come to what is undoubtedly “Their Finest Hour” in the book of Esther. It is in this hour that Queen Esther will step out of the shadows and embrace her identity as a child of the covenant-keeping God. It is in this hour that the king will become an unexpected ally in the defense of Esther’s people. It is in this hour that Mordecai will be raised to unimagined prominence to protect God’s family. This is their finest hour. But above all, this finest hour belongs to God, as He shows up in redemptive power!

Let’s lean in as we discover anew how our God is weaving a tapestry of redemption for His own eternal glory and for our own everlasting good! For we are loved in Christ, more than we know!
