Dear Moody Church Family Member,
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” —Matthew 16:18
Throughout the New Testament, and highlighted in our recent series in Acts, the local church is the core of the Christian movement. It is where people gathered, learned Scripture, received sacraments, built fellowship, worshiped, and learned together what following Jesus meant. It is the legacy of Christ’s time on Earth, built by Jesus for His followers. The local church remains the most effective way to reach new believers and disciple Christians. This is why our local and global outreach efforts emphasize church planting.
In today’s world, it is easy to feel less compelled to gather when so much good content is available from the comfort of home (including The Moody Church’s Sunday service!). While helpful, this content should not be viewed as an alternative to being an active part of a local body. We are called to be in community and fellowship with other believers (Hebrews 10:24–25). This benefits us, the church, and those around us. It is why there are a diversity of gifts scattered among God’s people. The church only thrives when we are together.
A great way to deepen your connection with God and others at The Moody Church (yes, to Feed Your Soul!) is to get involved in a Community. In a church of our size, Communities provide a more intimate setting to learn, live, and mobilize with our brothers and sisters in Christ. There are sixteen Communities eager to welcome you into fellowship!
Just as Community deepens our life together, generosity sustains it. As we enter the new fiscal year, I want to thank you for your faithful giving. If you have been on the sidelines as a giver, I want to invite you into the peace and joy of generosity and sacrificial giving. As you know, there is no local church, no Moody Church, without financial support. Together, when we give and serve, we get to be part of the most incredible victory the universe will ever see. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).
