Dear Moody Church Family Member,
Keep all your eggs in one basket, but watch that basket closely. —Warren Buffett
Only one life ‘twill soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last. —CT Studd
Both of the above quotes come from incredibly successful investors. Warren Buffett has amassed a fortune estimated to be worth 140 billion dollars. In the 1880s, CT Studd gave away a large inheritance and spent his life as a missionary in China, India, and central Africa, where he died. Both focused their investments on one thing to which they gave everything.
Every one of us is an investor. We make investment decisions every day with our time, our money, and our energy. What we choose to invest in reveals what we believe. Buffett believes in the compounding power of great businesses. Studd believed in the eternal value of the Gospel. Both understood the importance of choosing wisely and giving everything to it—but only CT Studd’s investment will last for eternity. The question for each of us is not whether we will invest, but where we will place our trust and what we are willing to give everything to.
The Moody Church takes our role stewarding your investment in eternity very seriously. There are amazing things happening around the clock, every day of the week through our regular ministries. TMC Kids and Youth are discipling the next generation, our Communities are overflowing, small groups and classes are equipping the saints, and we welcome new people to Sunday services each time the doors open. Additionally, our local and global outreach impacts thousands of people who may never set foot in our church through more than 60 partnerships around the world where we provide prayer, encouragement, and financial support. All of this is made possible thanks to your faithful giving and commitment to serving alongside one another.
As the fiscal year closes, I want to thank you for your faithful giving this year. However, as I write this, our giving levels are below the cost for the ministry we believe the Lord is calling us to. We have rigorously and prayerfully considered our ministry plans and we are excited about what the Lord is doing here in Chicago and around the world, but we can only do this together. Would you prayerfully consider a special fiscal year-end gift?
Your faithfulness will have an eternal impact! Thank you again for your generosity and your commitment to The Moody Church as we continue on The Journey of a Lifetime!
Together
