This Sunday evening at 5:00pm, I want to invite you to join me at the Chicagoland United in Prayer gathering. Gospel-faithful churches from across the city will come together at Moody Bible Institute in Torrey-Gray Auditorium for a time of worship and prayerful intercession. Our city needs Christ’s abundant mercies. Our country needs the Father’s healing presence. Our world needs the Spirit’s call to repentance and faith. So we gather together, all of Chicagoland united with one voice in prayer, seeking our triune God and asking Him to move with power in our time of need.
There’s something precious about worshiping together with brothers and sisters from across denominations who are united in the Gospel of Christ. We may not agree on all the particulars, but when it comes to the essential truths of the Scriptures and the Gospel, we find common ground in the family of God. It’s good for us to experience the breadth and depth of the body of Christ. It’s a little taste of heaven, where people from every nation, tribe, language, and tongue will join in worship of the crucified and risen Lamb who alone is worthy.
I think there’s something powerful when God’s children come together and cry out to Him with one voice. As a father, I know what it’s like to have my children come and ask me collectively for something. It pulls my heart in a different way. We never manipulate God, but I think He delights in seeing His children come together in unity to seek His face together. We need God to move. Let’s come together. This is the time to cry out to our God!
For we are loved, more than we know!
