Shepherding

The Shepherding Program

Our Shepherding Program is designed to model the Titus 2 passage calling women to disciple younger women. Our purpose is to connect a woman who desires a mentor in her life with a trained and qualified woman.

Goals of Shepherding

A woman shepherding other women is a mutual relationship, based on a biblical directive to:

  • Equip and support another to manage her life by setting biblical priorities

  • Minister to women who need pastoral care

  • Meet needs that only women can meet

  • Help women reach full spiritual maturity

Qualifications of a Mentor

A woman who is strong in her faith and willing to commit time and prayers to another woman is a good candidate for mentoring. Mentors realize that they are not counselors looking to “fix” other women. Instead, they are willing to walk through life with others who are looking for biblical wisdom, love and support. Mentors know how to establish boundaries with their mentees, ask challenging questions, and inspire spiritual growth. If you are interested in applying to become a mentor, please contact Simone Halpin.

Three Options

The Shepherding Program offers three options for women:

One-on-One: Women who possess spiritual maturity and strong faith are connected in nurturing relationships with younger women, encouraging and equipping them to live for God’s glory. The expected commitment is for one to two meetings per month for at least 12 months.

Book Club: Book clubs will consist of one or two mentors meeting monthly with four to six women to pass on principles of biblical womanhood through book studies and building relationships between women of different generations. These groups will meet once a month.

Home Group: Mentors will host women in their homes to help inspire them to create their own homes. Home group themes can include cooking classes, etiquette seminars, sewing classes, and decorating, among others. Each group will include a devotional time and be offered several times throughout the year; anyone is invited. For the November 2011 schedule, click here.
