What are the characteristics of Godly partners in the gospel mission? In this passage, Paul describes admirable characteristics of his partner, Epaphroditus. Paul’s purpose in writing is to show us what it looks like to live a life in the image of Jesus; Paul is giving us a model to follow. We learn two important lessons from the Epaphroditus’ example. Partners of character serve in the trenches; they exhibit the traits of a brother, a fellow worker, and a soldier. Partners of character serve through suffering, acting selflessly during both good and bad times.
