I was emailing with a resident’s mom this week. It can be unusual to have such personal contact with a mom of a resident, so when she asked about making a financial donation to Naomi’s House, my heart melted. Her financial donation felt like a gesture that was full of love and hope for her daughter. Not only did she make a donation, she became a monthly partner — a Hero Partner! When I emailed her to thank her for her partnership, this is what she wrote:

“I am now A Hero Partner! Thank you, it is my honor to be able to help Naomi’s House. This is a fight for my daughter’s life that has gone on for 20 years! I have fought the unknown, was completely without the right help for so long. I am so grateful that God…brought us to Naomi’s House! I am excited and hopeful!”

Stop it, right!? I’ve read those words over and over and still can’t believe she is sharing this. I wrote her back and said it was OUR honor to work with her daughter and be a part of her healing journey. I pray we never lose sight of this truth, that what we all are doing is an answer to over 20 years of a mama’s prayers.

Turns out, this isn’t the only resident’s mom who is a Hero Partner. She’s the second mom, along with a sister and an uncle. When survivors of sex trafficking get the healing they need and the resources to begin a new life, the ripple effect is far and wide. Families heal, the community heals, the church heals. I could not be more thankful for the opportunity to get to know our residents and their families.

We need more Hero Partners, like this mama, to serve the women at Naomi’s House! If you’d like to partner with us in this way, click here to set up an account. As always, we’re so thankful for you support, prayers, and partnership!
