Dear NH Family,

I’ve been praying and thinking about what to write and say to each of you all weekend. As each day the news surrounding the COVID-19 virus and our responsibility as a community to contain it strengthens, the weight of carrying Naomi’s House and the livelihood of eight individuals is heavy. We also have a number of graduates and participants in NH4 that are looking to us for direction and assurance. We have several prayer requests I want to share with you and humbly ask that you keep NH in prayer over these coming weeks.

  1. It is important to remember that a vulnerable population is impacted the most when our communities are facing challenges. Naomi’s House does not have the option to close down, even temporarily. Our residents need the community of NH more than ever when we are facing the challenge of an outbreak like COVID-19. Please pray for the health and safety of all our residents and all our staff. Our 24-hour care for the well-being and safety of our NH community will also not waver. Without a healthy staff, we will face even more challenges.
  2. Our programming has no option but to change dramatically over these next few weeks. Like we are doing in our personal lives, we are trying to figure out the “new normal” for life at NH. School, work, most therapy, and all social outings are cancelled. This leaves an opportunity for our residents to be creative with their new free time, and gives room to use the tools they’ve been working on to stay grounded and unafraid of the unknowns, and to work through any anxiety this season brings. Please pray that God would fill NH with His spirit of peace! And pray that creativity drives the residents and staff to make the most of a new schedule.
  3. All of our upcoming events, speaking engagements, showers, etc., have been either cancelled or postponed. As the CDC releases new information and recommendations each day, it’s hard to plan for our future and ensure that we will continue to stay strong from a funding perspective. This makes my heart beat fast, if I’m completely honest. I know that God will provide; He cares about the women at NH – their healing and their futures – more than any one of us. And so often, His provision comes through people like you. I did the math this weekend, if every person who receives this email gave a one-time donation of $25, we would raise enough money to cover ALL expenses of NH for one month. Would you pray about whether or not you can support us with a $25 donation? And pray that God would blow our minds with more provision than we can imagine during these uncertain times. Yes Lord!

I hope you have found the Word of God to be your personal strength and encouragement during this crazy corona time – I know have. The passage I’ve been holding on to is this, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection” (Psalm 91:1-5, NLT).

Be safe and stay healthy. And thank you for remembering NH during this unpredictable time-something I think we will all remember forever…

With much love,

Executive Director
