About Us

We have several ways to get involved within Women’s Ministry. Please explore the different programs we offer and join us!

The Precious to Him Project

The Precious to Him Project is the outreach arm of Women’s Ministry. We are no longer sitting on the sidelines of the social injustices happening to women and children all around the world and right here in Chicago. We know that God is calling us, His Church, to be the solution to the horrific difficulties women are in bondage to – human trafficking, prostitution, poverty, abuse, abandonment, and more.

We believe that we are the hands and feet of Jesus and that our responsibility, our privilege, is to represent Him and serve others. It is our prayer that we can bring hope to the hopeless, a voice to the voiceless, and direction to the lost. This can only be accomplished through the Good News of Jesus Christ and salvation that is found in Him alone.

Women’s Ministry Luncheons

These Saturday luncheons are scheduled periodically through the year, and feature topics of interest and inspiration for all women in the church. The fellowship is exceptional and it is a great way to meet new friends and bond with other women.

Recent luncheons have featured: Women at Risk, a ministry that rescues women in slavery and bondage around the world; The Battle for Biblical Womanhood, featuring moving testimonies from three Moody Church women in different stages of life; and A Christian Perspective on the Holocaust.

Typically, each luncheon begins at 11:00 and is held in Rooms 107/108 of the Christian Life Center.  Tickets are required, and must be purchased in advance. You may click here to register online or purchase a ticket at the Women’s Ministry Kiosk after the Sunday service.

Shepherding Program

Our Shepherding Program is designed to model the Titus 2 passage calling women to disciple younger women. Our purpose is to connect women who desire mentors in their lives with trained and qualified mature women. We offer three options within the Shepherding Program: One-on-One mentoring; Book Clubs; and Home Groups. For more information on each of these options or to apply to be a Mentor or Mentee, please click here.

Book Studies

Mary Whelchel leads a class at the 11:30AM on Sundays (room 305) on various books that inspire, encourage and teach women how to grow in their walk with Jesus. Previous books have included The Relationship Principles of Jesus by Tom Holladay, The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns, and Did I Kiss Marriage Goodbye? by Carolyn McCulley. The group of women who attend this class have found it to be a great source of community and adds enrichment to their spiritual life. Anyone is welcome and there is no need to register. For questions, email us.

Sisters In Christ

Women from all walks of life gather in this community that meets every Sunday at 8:30am in room 303. Led by Mary, this class pursues a deeper walk with Jesus and knowledge of the Word. Click here for more information.

Set Free Ministries

Set Free Ministries is an outreach to women who have experienced abuse, whether emotional, sexual, physical, verbal or spiritual. We offer hope and encouragement to women who are struggling in difficult circumstances. We believe that safety and healing come from the Bible, prayer, and being surrounded by a healthy community. We provide support through individual and group sessions, prayer partners, court support, and referrals to additional community resources. To learn more, please contact us via email or on our Contact Us page.

Deaconesses

Deaconesses are elder-appointed counterparts of deacons who serve the body of Christ as various needs arise. The Deaconess Committee is always looking for women to volunteer and help serve our church in areas such as the School Supply and Christmas Gift Bag Projects; providing meals for families facing crisis; wedding coordination; Sunday platform set-up; decorating various events at the church; gardening; kitchen care; and the annual Red Cross blood drive.  If you’re interested in volunteering in any of those areas, please contact us for more information.
