Who We Are
Women’s Ministry is led by Mary Lowman, with the help of our Leadership Committee, currently consisting of:
Mary S. Lowman |Director, Women’s Ministry
In addition to Director of Women’s Ministry, Mary serves as Executive Director of Naomi’s House. She is also Founder and Speaker of The Christian Working Woman radio ministry. She’s been a member of The Moody Church since 1981.
Our Freedom Sisters ministry is led by Heather Bausell.
Our Shepherding Program is led by Melody Knapp and J. Ridder.
We have several ways to get involved within Women’s Ministry:
Sisters In Christ – A TMC Community
Women from all ages and stages of life gather in this community that meets every Sunday at 8:30am in room 303. Led by Mary, this class pursues a deeper walk with Jesus and knowledge of the Word. Click here for more information.
Freedom Sisters, a Ministry to the Women in Cook County Jail
Freedom Sisters is a group of women who hold Bible studies at the Cook County Jail on a monthly basis. This ministry is led by Heather Bausell under Mary Lowman’s oversight.
One Saturday a month we go to the women’s jail from 12:00 to 1:30, where we meet with the women in various rooms—or “pods”—and we share Bible truth that can truly set these women free. To be a part of this ministry, you must apply to the ministry through Heather Bausell, and then an extensive application has to be submitted to the Cook County Sheriff’s office for approval. Below is more information on involvement in this ministry, as well as application forms.
Women’s Shepherding Minstry
Encourage and support one another as sisters in Christ…
The Women’s Shepherding Ministry is designed to help the women of The Moody Church model the Titus 2 passage through special mentoring relationships.
Please consider becoming a Mentor and/or Mentee. We endeavor to form mentoring partnerships for women who desire to have the help and guidance of a mentor in their life. This ministry is led by Melody Knapp and J. Ridder.
“Some things in life we can only know through experience, because growth always happens in relationship — in connection — in community,” - Jayme Hull, author of Face to Face: Discover How Mentoring Can Change Your Life

Hard copies of these applications are also available for pick up at the Women’s Ministry kiosk located in Memorial Hall.

Naomi’s House Prayer Team
Women’s Ministry began a new ministry — a long term residential home for women who suffered from commercial sexual exploitation. Naomi’s House exists because every woman who has suffered from commercial sexual exploitation deserves a new start.
We would love for you to join our prayer team. We send out regular emails with an update and a prayer request. Over 700 people are on this team, and we believe God is hearing the prayers of His people and moving in our hearts to serve and love women who are being exploited in Chicago and beyond. To join the prayer team, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Mary Lowman leads a class at 11:30AM on Sundays in Sankey 2 on various books that inspire, encourage and teach women how to grow in their walk with Jesus. The current book is The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey. All women are welcome to join us at any point in the book study—no need to register. The group of women who attend this class have found it to be a great source of community and adds enrichment to their spiritual life. For questions, email us.
