How do I obtain a copy of Windows Media Player?
Windows Media Player is available as a free download and we suggest that you install the program on your computer in sufficient time prior to the live broadcast since it is a large program and depending upon your internet connection speed it can take a long time to download. Follow these steps to download and install the program:
WINDOWS INSTALLATION
1. Click here to go to Microsoft's website, and click on the "Download Now" button.
2. Your computer will prompt you to "Run", "Save", or "Cancel" the file. Click "Save" and choose your Desktop as the target location wherein to save the file.
3. When the download completes, double-click the downloaded file on your desktop (probably entitled "MP10Setup") to begin installation. Your firewall settings may cause your computer to prompt you to "Run" or "Cancel" the file. Click "Run".
4. You will be prompted with a series of questions regarding personal preferences and acceptance of licensing stipulations. Answer them accordingly.
Which speed am I able to use for the live broadcast?
We have structured our streams to try to reach the greatest common denominator of users over dial-up or high-speed internet connections; that is, our stream speeds should work with those who have relatively poor internet connection speeds since we have set our stream speeds relatively low in light of what a connection is possible of sustaining. If you are using a traditional 56 Kbps or lower dial-up modem, you are only able to use our "Dial-Up" options, which contain the audio portion of our programs. If you have a DSL, cable modem, T1, or T3 connection, you should be able to use our "High-Speed" options, which contain both audio and video of our programs. If your high-speed internet connection is acting "slow" due to network congestion or other factors, or in other words, a connection that is not able to sustain our minimum 150 Kbps/ speed at which we stream, you will not be able to view the "High-Speed" options. Nevertheless, you should still be able to listen to our program by choosing one of our "Dial-Up" options.
I continually receive a message that the Windows Media Player is "buffering." What does this mean, and what can I do?
Most players attempt to "buffer" a stream with a few seconds of future content in order to account for potential times wherein the player experiences a slower internet connection speed. This, in turn, provides you with a better listening and viewing experience by ensuring that you do not miss content due to your vacillating connection speed. If your connection speed is not fast enough to maintain the stream, however, your player will continually need to stop the current stream in order to "buffer" it since the player is unable to both maintain the current stream speed and buffer that stream with a few seconds of future content. If you experience this problem with a high-speed connection, you should first check to see that your internet connection speed is set correctly in the Windows Media Player settings (see the previous question for directions). If you experience this problem over a dial-up connection, try to close your internet connection and dial up your internet provider again with either the same access phone number or - better yet - a different one in your area code. Your last connection may have been to a network that was sustaining many dial-up users, which caused you to experience a low connection speed.
I was listening to a stream without any problems, and the live broadcast stopped all of a sudden. What is wrong, and what should I do?
Your player may have lost a connection to our stream because of network traffic or because we stopped and restarted the stream in order to fix a problem. When you experience this problem, try to close the player and restart the stream by selecting the appropriate stream on our website.
I liked or missed the program that was broadcast today. Can I listen to the program again at another time or purchase a copy of the program?
Currently, we are not re-broadcasting our programs over the internet due to various factors, one of which is copyright issues over the music included in the live broadcast. If you are interested in procuring a copy of the sermon portion only, please call us at 800-215-5001 and mention that you would like to order a copy of the sermon that was preached "live in the church" and the particular date.
