Paul’s desire was for the church of Philippi to be united; the same desire remains for the church more broadly today. How can we stand together in unity as a church, and experience the joy promised in the Bible? How can we avoid divisiveness? Unity comes from focusing our minds and preferences not on ourselves but on the Lord. Standing firm in unity requires several things to achieve: it requires partners, its requires us to buy in, and it requires community. Pursuing unity within the church builds spiritual maturity in our lives, and strengthens our mission for the gospel.
