We’ve all been inspired by stories of partnership. What makes these stories so satisfying? It’s the deep satisfaction that people find when they have partnered with one another in a journey of service together. In this passage, about a travelogue, Paul brings forth a powerful message about his partner in the gospel, Timothy. We learn a first-hand account of someone who is living his life for others, someone whom we should emulate. Partners of character are central to finding joy in the gospel together, and it’s all rooted in selfless service to others. Selfless service requires honest evaluation about our status of fellowship and service with one another. Selfless service is motivated by a concern for others. Selfless service seeks God’s kingdom. Selfless service happens together as a family. Do you have people you can say it’s been an honor to serving with them?
