The Mysteries Of God
Drawing Near to the God we love, fear, and struggle to understand.
The doctrine of the Trinity—that God is “three in one”—is not a problem to be solved, but a doctrine to give us delight. (I’m indebted to Michael Reeves’ book The Good God for many of the insights in this message.)
There are those who criticize the doctrine of the Trinity; some point out that the word “trinity” does not appear in the Bible, while others accuse us of believing in three gods.
This message, perhaps more than any other, involves the greatest mystery and the greatest faith. Objections to God’s justice are many: the suffering in this world; the supposed inequity in the doctrine of election and the sufferings of hell.
