What is
the Deaconess Ministry?
The role of the deaconess is to serve the body of Christ
as Elder-appointed hostesses and handmaidens of the church, ready to serve
any need as it may arise. We assist the ministering staff and organize
volunteers in the following areas of practical service:
- Visitation and Comfort for our members experiencing
crisis through personal visits, phone calls, sending flowers and cards,
providing food or performing other needed tasks;
- Prayer for the various needs expressed by the ministering
staff and church family;
- Assisting the Social Committee in interrelated church
functions (e.g., business meeting potluck dinners and other celebrations);
- Assisting with Baptisms and Communion;
- Serving on the Kitchen and Fellowship Committees;
- Organization of biannual blood drives, gifts for
needy families and those needing encouragement during the holidays,
and school supplies in the fall for needy children participating in
our ministries;
- Providing Wedding Coordinators;
- Volunteering in the areas of platform décor
and outdoor gardening

Opportunities
for involvement
As 12 women, we cannot always provide for all these areas ourselves. We
rely on the assistance we receive from volunteers to help meet these needs.
Please prayerfully consider ways you can help us attend to our church
community in one or more of these areas of service.
- Holiday ministry to the needy
- Wedding coordinating
- Sunday platform setup (arrangement of plants)
- Gardening (exterior flower beds)
- Kitchen care
- Preparing a dish for receptions or funeral luncheons
- Bi-annual blood drive
