In the fall of 2008, The Moody Church began a children at risk ministry initiative now called Hope for Kids. Reflecting on D. L. Moody’s ministry to street children and the partnerships the Lord had already given us with ministries that reach out to at-risk children in Chicago and around the world, we sensed the Lord leading us to make a focused commitment to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to children at risk. The Mission Statement of this ministry is “To facilitate mutually beneficial relationships with our ministry partners serving children in need, by educating, inspiring, and mobilizing The Moody Church.” Get to know our Hope for Kids ministry partners by watching this video.

BY THE HAND CLUB FOR KIDS By The Hand Club For Kids is an after-school program that emphasizes academics while nurturing the whole child—mind, body and soul. Founded by The Moody Church in 2001 in Cabrini-Green, By The Hand Club now serves 726 children in four of Chicago’s more impoverished inner-city communities. By The Hand Club literally and figuratively takes kids by the hand and walks alongside them from the time they are enrolled until they are adults, walking independently with the Lord. They tutor them to academic excellence. Mentor them with the love of Jesus. And care for them as their own. www.bythehand.org |

CHARASIA (India) Charasia believes these children need the local church to be deeply invested in their lives, teaching them to know, serve and reflect Jesus Christ. Our emphasis on an English education, strong spiritual foundation and a loving family atmosphere enables us in this endeavor as we work to build Christ surrendered leaders for tomorrow. |

Hope’s award-winning programs of academic, vocational and social training have enabled thousands of Brazil’s children to break the cycle of violence and abuse and have introduced them to the promise of eternity in the arms of a loving father. http://www.hopeunlimited.org |

KIDS ALIVE (Dominican Republic) Kids Alive is rescuing at risk children in the Dominican Republic and sixteen other countries around the world. The situation for children in the DR is difficult. Extreme poverty, a poor education and health system, high rates of alcoholism and a decaying moral fabric all lead to high risk environments for children and many fall through the cracks. However, Kids Alive programs truly provide hope and a future for many. In the Dominican Republic, our nine orphanages, schools and care centers care holistically for approximately 1,100 children on a daily basis. Holistic care includes discipleship like the AWANA program, nutrition, preventive medical care, and academics. Most recently, Kids Alive has begun a university scholarship program. Thank you for your prayers and support. http://www.kidsalive.org/ |
