Thank you for taking the time to get to know us better!
The Moody Church has the privilege of connecting people to Jesus and to one another. We’re a culturally diverse, non-denominational Christian community that strives to bring God glory. We invite you to come and join us in worshipping our Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to meeting you!
Our Shared Values
Trusting in salvation through God’s Son and in the authority of God’s Word.
Loving God with all our hearts and loving people as ourselves.
Praying in the power and leading of God’s Spirit.
Sharing the life-changing truth of the Gospel.
What are Shared Values?
The Elders and Leadership Council of The Moody Church
Every congregation should know why it exists. Indeed, every church should exist for the same biblical Purpose, which is expressed by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:12-13: “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ might be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
However, each congregation must ask God for wisdom in finding His Vision for the direction of its ministries, taking into account its specific gifts, location, resources, and history. This Vision should unify the individual members in pursuit of common goals and objectives.
Inherent within Purpose and Vision are the Values a church honors in its ministry planning and implementation. Values are the distinctive characteristics of a church; they are the standards it uses to ensure that it stays true to its Purpose while pursuing its Vision.
We believe our Values should be explicitly made known to all who worship and serve with us so that we can share common priorities, a common commitment, and a common heart for ministry.
Our purpose is to evangelize, edify, and equip people to be true worshipers and effective representatives of Jesus Christ so that we all may “stand confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.” (1 John 2:28, NIV)
Toward this end we have been celebrating the joy of changed lives since 1864.
Our vision is to be known in Chicago as a caring, culturally diverse community that seeks to transform lives through a clear witness for Christ, quality ministries, and the lifestyle of each believer.
In pursuit of this Vision we’re seeking to keep the promise that The Moody Church is a trusted place where anyone can connect with God and others.
Where are you located?
We are situated at the intersection of North Avenue, Clark Street and LaSalle Drive on the near north side of Chicago.
The two main entrances are: 1630 N. Clark and 1635 N. LaSalle.
The 1635 N. LaSalle entrance is best for wheelchair and stroller access.
What about parking?
We offer complimentary parking to those who attend our services. When you pull up to either of our main entrances, a member of our parking team will be happy to help you locate a parking space.

Sunday Morning Gathering 10:00am (this is our main Sunday service)
Sunday Evening Gathering 5:00pm

What should I expect at the morning service?
Every Sunday, approximately 2000 people gather for music, Scripture, and a message from the Bible intended to bring about transformation in our lives. We are, in effect, preparing ourselves to be ambassadors for Christ in the world.
Informational packets are available to visitors to enable them to learn more about The Moody Church. Guests are also invited to attend a Visitors Reception after the morning service to find out more.
What should I wear?
We come to church to worship God, so modest dress is appropriate. However, all styles are welcome, and you’ll see people wearing anything from jeans to suits.
What should I do when the offering basket is passed?
The offering is intended for our members and regular attenders. As our guest, you are under no obligation to give to the church, so feel free to let the basket pass by. However, we would love to have you fill out one of the Connection Cards located in the seat racks; simply place the completed card in the offering basket.

When do you celebrate Communion?
Our normal practice is to serve communion on the first Sunday of each month. We welcome all who profess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior to receive communion—you do not need to be a member of The Moody Church to participate.
In order to include as many people as possible in the communion ordinance, we serve gluten-free matzo (free of most allergens) and 100% grape juice. A certified allergen-free option is also available. Detailed information about the elements can be downloaded here.
What if I need prayer?
Every Sunday morning, Prayer Partners are available at the front of the sanctuary after the service to assist you with spiritual needs or to help you get connected with church groups and ministries. Prayer partners are also available after our Sunday Evening Gathering, and of course during our Wednesday Prayer Gathering.
How do I get connected with other members of the church?
We at The Moody Church recognize that our spiritual journey is done as a community and involves every stage of life. We strive to create a culture of connectivity and spiritual growth through our various classes and small groups. Our hope is that all who attend will feel like they belong, that they are valued and appreciated, and will form genuine friendships through the opportunities for fellowship, worship, prayer, encouragement, and support. Stop by the Connection Corner in the main lobby for more information, or check out the ministries and communities of the church by clicking on the Connecting tab in the navigation bar.
What is available in the Media Center?
The Media Center, which is open for thirty minutes following the morning service, carries Pastor Lutzer’s books and sermons as well as CDs of the morning message. The Media Center also stocks a small assortment of ESV Bibles that are available for purchase. If you have questions about any Moody Church media materials or publications, please ask.
What should I expect at the evening service?
Our Sunday Evening Gathering tends to be more casual than our Sunday morning service. The service, which lasts about an hour, is filled with music, prayer, and Bible teaching, and is followed by the opportunity to get to know others.
Do you have anything special for visitors?
If you’re coming to The Moody Church for the first time, we would love to have you join us after the morning service for a special reception. We welcome the opportunity to help you get to know our church family and to see why people decide to make The Moody Church their home. Come and join us in the Visitors Center—we have a gift waiting for you!
Do you offer tours of the church?
Each Sunday we offer a short tour of the Sanctuary. Please meet us in the Visitors Center following the service.
For group tours occuring on Monday through Friday, please call the church office at 312.327.8600.
