The marriages and families of The Moody Church come from many and varied neighborhoods, ethnicities, educational and economic backgrounds, faith histories and cultural identities. There probably is not a more diverse congregation in the Chicago region. And, that means our families and marriages have the opportunity to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Christ in a very dynamic spiritual environment where color or class or college degrees have no special place at the table. What unites us is a commitment to Christ and obedience to the Word. Col. 3:11
Our goal is to support and equip parents, including single parents, in their primary roles of nurturing their children’s faith and of training them according to God’s Word. Deut. 6:6,7; Ephesians 6:4. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment, godly teachers and solid content appropriate to any kid’s age and stage of life.
Our goal is to support and equip married couples to live with each other with sacrificial love, deference and forgiveness, each assuming their biblical responsibilities. Ephesians 5: 22-32; Col. 3:1-15. We are complementarian in outlook, confident in the power of God to heal hurts and bring unity and committed to the priority of the marriage relationship. Pastoral counseling is provided to families and marriages in our fellowship who find themselves in distress, as well as pre-marital and “maintenance” counseling.
The Family Ministries program works closely with Children’s Ministries and Youth Ministries to address the spiritual needs of any family in our fellowship. We welcome blended, conventional or single parented families, bi-racial and cross cultural families, special needs kids, and home school, private and public school children from neighborhoods all across Chicagoland!
