Discovering Your Church (Membership Seminar)

The four seminars of the Discover Your Church course introduce attendees to the history and beliefs of The Moody Church, our various ministries, and the many ways in which they can serve.  All four sessions are required in order to be considered for church membership.

Requirements for Membership

I. In order to become a member, applicants are expected to:

     A. attend all four seminars;
     B. read the Constitution and Bylaws of The Moody Church, noting any questions;
     C. complete and sign the membership application;
     D. read the Two Ways to Live book and complete the included answer sheet;
     E. be interviewed by a member of the Executive Committee. 

II.  Subsequent to the completion of these five requirements, applicants’ names will be published in the bulletin for two consecutive Sundays, after which the Executive Committee will vote to accept candidates into membership. 

III. Final approval of each candidate’s membership is determined by the Executive Committee, who will notify the applicant of his/her acceptance via letter. 

Note: on rare occasions it may be recommended that a candidate delay membership until he/she can meet with one of the Pastors to discuss any issue(s) of concern. In such instances, the candidate will be notified promptly.

IV. New members will be welcomed into the congregation during a Sunday morning service.

Discovering Your Gifts (Serving with Purpose)

Are you eager to serve the Lord but struggling to figure out the “best fit” for you and your abilities? This six-week course will help you discover your spiritual gifts and where you can best use them for the glory of God and the benefit of others. 

Every believer has a place they can serve most effectively in the church - this class will help guide you to that place of ministry that best reflects who you are. Discover the spiritual gifts God has given you, and in so doing gain a better understanding of God’s will for your life as you see more clearly who God created you to be.

The class fee of $10 covers the book and all distributed materials.  For more information, please contact us.

Baptism Preparation Class

Obedience to the ordinance of baptism is God’s will for every believer, and at The Moody Church, participation in the preparation class is required.  There is no cost for the class, and no pre-registration is necessary.  However, we do ask that you read the baptism packet (available at the main Information Desk, or for download here) and complete the “Application for Baptism” prior to the class.

Upcoming Baptism Schedule

• We have another Lake Michigan baptism scheduled for Saturday morning, August 25.  We will have three prep classes in August: Sunday, August 5 at 1:30pm in Sankey 2; Wednesday, August 8 at 6:30pm in Room 305; and Sunday August 12 at 1:30pm in Room 305.

• The final baptism of 2012 will be held on Sunday, October 28, and the prep class will be Sunday, October 14 at 1:30pm in Room 302.

Discovering Your Faith (For New Believers)

This 12-week interactive class provides a nurturing, supportive environment for anyone who has questions about God and Jesus, and well as any who have recently entered into a relationship with Jesus. Using the curriculum Now that I Believe: Your First Steps with God, the class encourages Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.   

There is no cost or registration necessary, and all new believers - and those with questions about the faith - are encouraged to attend. For information, please contact us.
