The New Testament and subsequent church history reveal how the spread of the Gospel was extended throughout the world through the establishment and multiplication of new churches (Acts 9:31; 16:5). The expansion of Christianity was and still is inextricably linked to the planting of churches. And the establishing of churches is both God ordained and God sustained (Matthew 16:18).

The establishing of multiple evangelical church plants is essential in realizing The Moody Church’s vision of impacting the city of Chicago and beyond. Recent research in the Chicago metropolitan area alone highlights the need for more churches. To reach a ratio of one church per 500 people in every Chicago zip code would require starting 11,212 more churches!  Furthermore, the need for church planters is growing. Church planting champion Aubrey Malphurs predicts that within the next few years, 100,000 of the 350,000 churches in America will close their doors. Malphurs goes on to state that “church planting is the future for the American church because it is far easier to plant a new church than to renew a dying one.”

The Moody Church is a founding partner with two other Chicago churches: Holy Trinity Church and Park Community Church forming the “Chicago Partnership for Church Planting” (CPCP).Pastor of Global and Local Outreach, Levi Velasco, represents The Moody Church as a member of the CPCP leadership team.
