Bible and Prayer Fellowship Luncheons - News
Come on out and join us at Bible and Prayer Fellowship Luncheons!
Moody Church’s Bible & Prayer Community
Our Community is growing and welcoming newcomers, which is wonderful. However, we don’t often have sufficient time before, during or after the B&P class to get to know each other. Yet, our goal as a Community is to get to know God better – and each other too! So….here’s an open invitation so that each B&P member can meet for a snack, lunch, brunch, or just a beverage or dessert - any and every Sunday!
How it Works
RECOGNIZE OTHERS - Look around the class and get to know the faces of your fellow members — even if you don’t know their names. (Coming to these luncheon fellowships will help you to learn the names!)
TIME - Anytime after Sunday morning service ends, just show up!
THE PLACE - Across Clark Street to the “North & Clark Café” inside theChicagoHistoryMuseum at the ground floor’s NE corner. Enter through the Museum’s revolving doors and go right down the hall.
THE COST - It costs nothing to enter the Museum’s Café; you pay NO Museum entry charge. Your expense is limited to whatever you order. Here is a sampling: Omelet $8, Hot dog $4.50, Burger $7, Muffin $2.50, Cereal & milk $1.75, Sandwiches $6.50, Salads, $6-$8. You can also choose desserts, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, soft drinks, iced tea, chips, fruit salad, yogurt, even bagels with jam and butter or cream cheese!
WHAT TO DO - At the counter, pick from the menu or display case, order your choice & pay for it. You’ll be given a sign with a number; take it to the dining area & join anyone else from B&P. If you’re the first to arrive, pick a table, keep an eye open for B&P faces & wave them over to your table when they arrive. Cafe staff will bring your order. The beauty of this system is that each person pays when ordering, so there is no later figuring out of who pays what, as with restaurant checks. Introduce yourself to others at the table. What if you go and no one shows up? The worse that can happen is that you get a tasty, convenient meal. Don’t give up – come again next week, when perhaps other B&P-ers will show up too. We all have to eat and it’s more fun with company!
HOW MANY WILL SHOW UP? Some Sundays more of us will show up than others. We won’t worry about numbers; just show up when the mood for conversation (and your stomach) prompt you to go.
HOW LONG TO STAY? Come and go as you wish. If you have only a short time before another event, such as an Equipping class, you can have your snack & converse with those from B&P for that short time, then depart. Or, if you have the time and inclination, stay to converse with different B&P folks as they come and go. (On Easter Sunday, four of us sat there for hours!)
HOW TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER - Please wear your name badge to help us get to know each other’s name. Here are some possible ice breakers: How long have you been a B&P member? What’s your favorite thing about B&P? How close do you live toMoodyChurch? What is your favorite hobby? What interesting fact have you learned in the past week?
WHAT IF YOU CAN’T GO UNTIL WELL AFTER 11:30? Perhaps you attend an 11:30-12:30 Community such as Fusion or In Focus. Or maybe you serve at the Media Counter, Info Desk or Connection Corner & aren’t free until noon or later. No problem! Just come over to the Café when you’re free – there will quite probably be other B&P folks there too with your later schedule.
FEEDBACK Let’s see how this works. If you have ideas such as fun ice breaker topics, share them with our President Jim Wesby, so he can announce these to the class or ask Suzanne Sellers to put them on our class website page. See you at the Café!
